Offered is ONE Ti Rod Tactical™ 6" x 1/2" Diameter Rod Yawara Stick With Fist-Lock™. They are designed, hand made, and assembled in the USA, and have the same Fist-Lock™ firm grip design as many of my other compact Kubotan / Yawara Sticks. This is a NEW offering (as of 1-21-18), now made with WHITE Dupont™ Delrin® Grade 150 Homopolymer Acetal Resin.
(see my other listings for similar sticks made in Black Delrin)
NOTE:
Although my Black version of this model (available in another Ebay listing) has sold more units, I decided to make some of these in WHITE Delrin rod because I noticed a LOT of women were buying my Polymer sticks, and in lots of cases they were carrying the stick in their Purses.
As is NO surprise, women can really cram a LOT of items into those purses (or often much larger Tote Bags!),....and an all black self defense stick can get lost and not stand out in order to retrieve quickly. These WHITE rod two-tone sticks will be much easier for them to locate if ever needed, especially if up against a dark pair of gloves, scarf, ...or similar dark colored item. When seconds count this CAN make a huge difference!
Previously I made similar Yawara Sticks in Nylon rod, but this is a worthwhile Upgrade in material as it is both stiffer and tougher,... and makes a great choice for this stick. It also sands and finishes much "cleaner", helping to keep the price really affordable considering the amount of hand work involved.
This model is designed to be a FULLY Functional Yawara Kubotan Style high strength stick, and is also VERY light! The sample I weighed came in at just 1.4 ounce.
I prefer mine in a compact 6" or so like this (I have an average size hand), and I am able to fully pocket carry mine and it's virtually invisible in my jeans pocket.
I always carry at least one of this design in my pants or shirt pocket (especially in a white dress shirt where the stick blends in very well and appears as a marker pen),........as well as other stick types in varying sizes using other carriage modes. It can also carry in many areas when a metal one cannot.
The Dupont™ Black Delrin®, Grade 150 rod used here is .50" in diameter, is very strong and stiff for this use,.....and impervious to the elements so it won't rust or corrode.
Offered at a much lower price point than my Titanium sticks of a similar size and intended use, you'll get to know the "feel" of the grip's fit discussed below, and still have one tough stick without breaking the budget. I suspect some of you may even decide to eventually upgrade to one of my Titanium versions, and I wouldn't blame you! They make great gifts for those close to you, and may even provide a training partner for yourself :-)
A secure grip is something that has often been lacking with the also compact Kubotan style sticks, as they most always seem a bit slippery to me. I've also never liked the multiple deep cutaway finger grooves often seen in an attempt to add some security to the grip. The Kubotan sticks are already rather thin, so to cut material away in an attempt to add "grip" is going in the wrong direction. I think what I present here is much better, and initial testing bears that out.
So,.....I offer instead a basic Yawara / Kubotan stick shape, but having a VERY comfortable and secure grip with a high coefficient of friction reinforced rubber central area, that is optimized to the user's hand like no other!
As part of the overall ergonomic design, when the central grip length is about 1-13/16" in length for most folks (generally a little wider than the combined width of the middle and ring fingers at the base for most folks), .....this will allow the user to effectively "lock" the stick into their closed fist (aka
Fist-Lock™
), .....with about an inch or so of stick exiting the fist on each end as shown in the photos.
The raised reinforced grip fits into that "small pocket" created where your fingers meet the hand once the fingers are curled, as happens naturally when you make a fist. The next to last photo shows the hand with fingers outstretched, and there is no "cup" presented in the hand. The LAST photo shows the small pocket created once the fingers are bent. Much like a Key Way holding a wheel onto an electric motor shaft, this designs forms a "mechanical connection" of the stick to your hand! It has been well received by knowledgeable Martial Arts practitioners, Law Enforcement Officers, and MANY others as creating an outstanding grip!
With the inside edge of the first finger wrapped around the rod and butted up against the comfortably tapered top edge of the grip, ....and the inside edge of the forth (pinky) finger wrapped around and butted up against the similarly tapered lower edge of the grip,......the stick is effectively LOCKED in place between both ends of the rubber grip within the closed fist! (see photos to see how well this works! :-)
It's tough to describe how solid and comfortable this feels in several strike positions,.....but I wouldn't have invested so much time and money into this were it not a significant improvement in the "art" of Yawara and Kubotan sticks.
Also, for lots of reasons it makes sense to consider carrying multiple defensive sticks at various locations upon your person, which is what I most often do. You never know when a single stick might be unreachable should you be wrapped up in a particular way without warning, and having various stick types available will help to counter that possibility.
To that end,.....I am offering (in separate listings), various lengths and thicknesses of this stick design but in Grade 5 Titanium alloy, and with a variety of carriage systems. Please check them out.....
Thanks for your consideration.
ALSO,....PLEASE make sure Yawara and Kubotan style sticks are legal to carry in your Country, State, City, or Town
before
purchasing. Some areas may have restrictions on such things, and I cannot possibly know about every specific law in every area of the world. :-) Your purchase confirms you have complied with your local laws. Thank You
